The Phang Nga Bay National Marine Park is famous for its caves and limestone rock formations in the Andaman Sea. The Islands have many caves and tunnels underneath them and the steep, roky cliffs are up to 100 meter high.
The caves are tidal caves which means they are only accessible between the tides. In times of low tide, the bottom of the caves consist of mud and sharp rocks and it’s not possible to enter, at high tide, the caves entries are under water and therefore it is again not possible to enter. Depending on the tidal times and hight the caves are only accessible for some 15-20 minutes a day.
Have a close look and you might be lucky to see some of the fruit bats, swallows, macaques, king fishers, hornbills or mudskippers who call this area their home.
